We have been building in the Charente Maritime region for over 16 years. Fluent in the both the French language and French building regulations and legalities. Alex Hodgkiss, the company owner comes from a family tradition of builders & takes great pride in quality craftsmanship. Specializing in sympathetically restoring old buildings in the traditional style of the region. Treading the fine line between renovation & restoration, a modern home with history.

Materials & Ecological efficiency

Incorporating local natural materials, salvaged beams, stone, timber, etc, retaining and reusing as much of the material and features of the building as possible. Efficient ecological design is a core company value. Reduced running costs, increased efficiency and minimal environmental impact, but importantly within budget. Optimising the insulating values of the materials used and offering ecological options such as solar power, underfloor heating & traditional techniques such as lime render or hemp render.

Client Relationship

The entire project can be handled, from the planning and design stage to turn of the key. We work closely with you, maintaining a fluid & flexible relationship. You can be as hands on & active in the project as you wish. We welcome your input throughout the entire process. Alternatively you can receive regular updates and progress reports.

We cater for all sorts of projects, supplying and sourcing all the required materials, skills & labour. With over a decade’s experience in the region we have a strong network with local craftsmen and suppliers. Every aspect of the build is managed by McGregor Renovations. In addition to building projects we also carry out smaller renovations, repairs & alterations.
